So I have been attempting to loose weight...again... but this time I have decided to read some books about not only how to loose weight, but about people who have been successful at loosing weight. I have read some really great books and some not so great books, and one that I read they first page and had to get rid of it, it was so offensive.
So far there are three books that I have really enjoyed and felt I should recommend to my friends and family, they were so good.
"Diabesity" by Francine R. Kaufman MD I have quite a few people in my family with diabetes and I also get gestational diabetes when I am pregnant. This was a great book that taught me so much more about this disease than I had ever learned from my doctor. This was a real eye opener to the epidemic that America is facing as we get fatter at younger and younger ages.
"The Beck Diet Solution" by Judith S. Beck Ph.D. This is a 6 week program that teaches you how to "train your brain to think like a thin person" it has some great ideas on how to help yourself stick to a diet and excercise program, and truly feel that you deserve to loose weight.
"Half-Assed a weight-loss memoir" Jennette Fulda This was the easiest of the three books to read and also the funniest since it was a memoir instead of an educational book. I got about 5 different memoir books, but this one was by far the best of them all. A real insparation to anyone who wants to loose weight. She also has a blog pastaqueen.com if you want to get a taste for what this book is like.
I got all these at the library (but I want to buy the Beck diet solution since it is a 6 week program and it would help to be able to write in the book), so check them out if you have been thinking about loosing weight at all.
